Covington History Group – Pottery Pick, 1st and 2nd August from 10am – 12.30pm
FURTHER UPDATE: The rain beat us again, we we are now looking to meet over the weekend of 1st & 2nd August. Further details to follow.
UPDATE: We were rained off on the 19th July, so have rescheduled to the following weekend, Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th July.
We have found a new roman site on our farm at Keyston and feel it gives us a chance to do a bit of field walking, which is picking up pottery lying on the surface of the soil, and maybe later doing a bit of digging in test pits, which are pits of 3 by 3 metres, to see what we can find below the surface.
The first thing we would like to do is get everyone who is interested over to Keyston to have a look at what is involved. Obviously this is out in the open air and you will be very widely spaced so social isolation will not be a problem. There is no way that we would ask anyone to take part in this if we thought there would be any danger to any of you.
We will have plenty of hand sanitiser, wipes and Dettox liquid and paper towels with us to ensure that everything is as clean as possible, but please bring your own cleanser if you wish and make sure you wash your hands before coming over.
Please contact Mo & Richard Brown, or Peter Sewell, directly to express your interest, or otherwise via our Contact page.
